Rufedol

Rufedol is used for febrile states, inflammation, rheumatism and pain of various origins

Indications
Febrile states, inflammation, rheumatism, pain of various origins (dysmenorrhoea, dental pain, neuralgia, lumbago)

Pharmacological Class
Diclofenac : phenylacetic acid derivative.Paracetamol :para-aminophenol derivative

Pharmacological Properties
Anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antipyretic

Mechanism of Action
Diclofenac :
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDS) exert a potent blocking action on prostaglandin synthesis. During phagocytation of the immune complex by the leukocytes (the immune complex being formed by combining antigen-antibody + complements), prostaglandins arereleased on two levels : - direct release of prostaglandins as well as other phlogogenic substances (histamine, serotonin and kinins), which are the cause of acute vascular inflammation phenomena. - indirect release of prostaglandins by enzymes such a
NSAIDs also exert an inhibiting activity on platelet aggregation. Paracetamol
Peripheral analgesic
Centrally acting antipyretic on the hypothalamus thermal control centre by inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis

Side Effects
Diclofenac : gastro-intestinal disorders, nausea, diarrhoea, epigastric pain. Paracetamol : Rare

Contradictions
Diclofenac : absolute : gastroduodenal ulcer, severe hepato-cellular insufficiency, severe renal insufficiency, children under 15 years, pregnancy (from 6th month) and lactation. Relative : patients receiving oral anticoagulants, combination with other NSAIDs. Paracetamol : - allergy to paracetamol.- hepato-cellular insufficiency
