| Mechanism of Action |
Cyproheptadine is a histamine and serotonin antagonist by means of competitive action in their receptors

| Side Effects |
Drowsiness, dry mouth, nervousness, perspiration, dizziness

| Contradictions |
• Hypersensitivity to cyproheptadine and drugs with a similar chemical formula
• Tendency to urinary retention.
• Children under 2 years (CNS depression, convulsions)

| Observations |
• Alcoholic drinks are not recommended during treatment
• Antihistamines should not be used in the symptomatic treatment of broncho-pulmonary diseases, particularly in asthma attacks
• Antihistamine overdosage, especially in the nursing infant and children can cause hallucinations, CNS depression and convulsions
• Avoid activities requiring alertness and coordination (driving or operating machinery and mechanical equipment)
