| Mechanism of Action |
• Artesunate kills parasites very quickly and prevents gametocytes to be formed
• Combination therapy offers the advantage that the development of resistant strains of Plasmodia is most unlikely
|

| Side Effects |
• Undesirable effects for Artesunate are generally rare at the therapeutic dose (600mg) recommended
• Slight changes to haematology values have been seen
• Nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea have also been reported
|

| Contradictions |
• Use of product is not recommended during pregnancy without doctors advice
• Administration of the drug during the first trimester must be avoided
• Patients with hypersensitivity to Amodiaquine can develop hepatitis
|

| Observations |
• Do not exceed the recommended dose without seeking further medical advice
• Blister packed should preferably be kept dry place
• Stored at room temperature below 30'C
