Floxan

Levofloxacin is a quinolone antibacterial drug used for soft-tissue and respiratory and urinary tract infections that have not responded to other antibiotics

• Tablets

Indications
• Multi Drug Resistant Typhoid fever
Multi-Drug Resistant TB (AIDS or non-AIDS patients)
Acute bacterial sinusitis

Pharmacological Class
Fluoroquinolones group.

Pharmacological Properties
Antibiotic

Mechanism of Action
Floxan is one of most active fluoroquinolones and acts by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase

Side Effects
• Nausea,Vomiting
Skin rash,joint pain
Headache Diarrhoea
Epigastric distress
Abdominal pain,dizziness

Contradictions
• Subject history of hypersensitivity to levofloxacin
In pregnancy and in lactating women Floxan should be taken according to doctor advice
Should not be refrigerated

Observations
Floxan treats only bacterial infections. It will not work with viris infections (eg. Common cold, flu)
