Mechanism of Action

Silver sulphadiazine gradually releases the silver ion, whose bactericidal power combines with the bacteriostatic power of the released sulphonamide

Side Effects

Eczema, Irritation

Contradictions

• Hypersensitivity to one of the components.
• End of pregnancy or lactation
• Neonate and premature infant

Observations

• Before changing the dressing (in principle every 24 hours), the skin should be cleansed.
• In case of extensive burns, the systemic absorption of sulfadiazine exposes the patient to the general complications of sulphonamides (haematological, renal)
• In subjects suffering from renal or hepatic insufficiency, avoid application to open wounds, especially ulcers
