• Peripheral analgesic
• Centrally acting antipyretic on the hypothalamus thermal control centre by inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis

Rare (sometimes skin rash allergies)

| Contradictions |
• Allergy to paracetamol
• Hepato-cellular insufficiency
|
|
| Observations |
• It has no anti-inflammatory property
• It does not cause stomach irritation or haemolytic anaemia
• There is a risk of poisoning in elderly subjects and especially in young children
• At high doses (i.e. > 10gr / day in adults, or 150mg/ kg of body weight in a single dose in children) it can cause fatal hepatic necrosis
