Securing family health in Jamestown, Ghana

 In Videos

Daniel Quaye is a fisherman in Jamestown, Accra, Ghana. Each morning he joins a team of fishermen in pulling canoes and removing fish from nets. The physically demanding job requires his health to be strong for the success of his team.

Quaye explains how the high populations and tight living spaces in Jamestown have contributed to the spread of illness. He learned from his mother to take Shalina Healthcare’s antacid, Polygel because it’s affordable and effective.

He describes Shalina as “keeping our team strong.”

Today, Shalina is a major provider of quality, essential medicines for several countries in Africa.  Additionally, the company has founded a series of local depots to reach hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, and non-governmental organizations (NGO’s).

Shalina produces over 200 products, and is certified with the World Health Organization and Good Manufacturing Practices – both internationally recognized standards of manufacturing.

Furthermore, the company aims to work with the Ministry of Health to combat the issue of counterfeit medication in Africa.

Their involvement with the African community has lowered infant and adult mortality rates due to an increased presence of analgesics and antibiotics.
